Three (3) year
apprenticeship
The cement mason
smoothes and finishes surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls and sidewalks
using hand tools or power tools, including floats, trowels and screeds. Helps pour and level concrete. May help prepare surface to be poured. Creates different texture effects for
finished concrete.
Basic Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age
High school education or
a G.E.D.
Physically fit to
perform work of the trade
Familiarity with
construction is helpful
Needs to furnish own
hand tools
Works with some power
tools
Much of the work will
most likely be performed outdoors
The apprentice will
receive increment wage rate increases based on a percentage of the
journeyworker rate.
The apprentice will be
required to attend related training classes, most likely in the evenings,
possibly some Saturdays.
