Five (5) year
apprenticeship
The plumber assembles,
installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and
drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Cuts, threads and
bends pipe. Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, bathtubs,
water heaters, garbage disposal units, dishwasher and water softeners. Will be
doing some welding.
Basic Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age
Birth certificate
Valid drivers license
Social security card
Veterans must submit
DD214 Form
High school education or
a G.E.D.
Physically fit to
perform work of the trade
Familiarity with
construction is helpful
Works with power hand
tools
The
plumber doing service and repair work may be sheltered from the weather quite
often, but most plumbers will be working outdoors and exposed to weather quite
often.
The
apprentice will receive increment wage rate increases based on a percentage of
the journeyworker rate, beginning at approximately 45% of journeyworker pay.
The apprentice will be
required to attend related training classes, most likely in the evenings.
