Five (5) year
apprenticeship
The electrician installs
and repairs electrical wiring, light fixtures and other electrical equipment in
residential, commercial and industrial applications. Installs switchboards,
control panels, transformers, computer and telephone wiring. Troubleshoots
electrical circuits and
problems.
Basic Qualifications:
At least 17 years of age
at time of application and 18 years of age when placed for employment
High school education or a G.E.D.
One year high school algebra with a passing grade or equivalent Physically fit
to perform work of the trade Aptitude test
Familiarity with construction is helpful Drug screening
Needs to furnish own hand tools
Works with power hand tools furnished by contractor
Much of the work may be
somewhat sheltered from weather elements, depending on stage of construction,
but a large amount of outdoors work should be anticipated. Much overhead work
will also be performed.
The apprentice will
receive increment wage rate increases based on a percentage of the
journeyworker rate, beginning at approximately 43%of journeyworker pay.
The apprentice will be
required to attend classes, most likely in the evenings.

Wiring installations
Conduit installations
Electrical connections and testing Electrical circuits
Lighting fixtures and electrical fixtures
Distribution panels, switchboards, panel boards, etc. Electrical maintenance
and repair Scaffolding Safety
Care, use and operation of hand and power tools and equipment
Applications taken on
Mondays between 8:00 A.M. and 5:30 P.M.
